Letter To The Voters

I am active in community and veteran oriented organizations, and worked in both the government and business arena for over twenty years. The Tribe is and will face many new and old obstacles and the tribal council needs to provide leadership and guidance to our employees and the EDC to endure our future for not only our youth and families, but also our Elders.

I believe with my background, education and experience I can be an asset where it counts. I want to take this opportunity to use my experience, education, and knowledge to help move the Tribe into the future. As the years go by we will continue to grow larger and the growth may come quickly. My concern is to assure we have a strong foundation and solid leadership so we may weather storms during down economic periods such as now, and work our way to a brighter future.

My background includes extensive experience in municipal government management from government reorganizations, community redevelopment, and the development of services, to business development and job creation. As a Community Planner, I have experience in business development, job creation, increasing community tourism, and the development of affordable housing, infrastructure, parks, marinas and so much more. I have had the luxury to do this in many Townships, Cities, and Villages throughout Northern Michigan and now ask you to afford me the opportunity to do the same for our Tribe. For over twenty years, there has been talk about business diversity in non-gaming enterprises to provide non-gaming jobs for tribal members. I have the proven success to help bring this forward and this will be one of my goals if I am elected to the Tribal Council.

This does not mean it will be an easy road, our tasks ahead are many and difficult, but together we can move our Tribe forward to a better tomorrow. I want to bring forth change through our legislative channels to guide the Tribe into the future. I want to concentrate on issues that will bring forth better and affordable housing and more and broader employment opportunities, and create core community centers equitably and fairly. I want to provide the membership with more access to governmental programs and services and see that the community members are empowered and have a say in the development our Tribe through Master Community Planning and the development of community planning committees.

I promise to be decisive. My management experience is to be proactive and to resolve core community problems that we face head on. When I do not have the answer I will seek your guidance and will continue to question and seek a suitable answer to make things happen and bring about positive change to benefit the membership in a fair and equitable manner. I would appreciate your vote on Primary Election Day, Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Now is the time to make a difference, please vote.
